I’m getting younger
Kids are getting older
Leaving this world behind
And all the drugs and sex
You might think its a hex
But in New York it’s ain’t no crime
Well I’m from upstate
So I was a bit late
Got to the city just in time
To great the city kids in their hospital beds
They’re all in rehab on the upper west side.
I can’t afford ridgewood
I can’t stand bushwick
Don’t step foot in williamsburg
And gowanus is nice
But you might get head lice
From looking at the wrong bird
And the weatherman said:
“Hey New York is dead”
But maybe he hasn’t heard
That heroin is cool again
And Lou Reed ain’t the least bit disturbed
In another time
You know you’d be mine
And we’d really kick up some dirt
We’d go to CB’s and Max’s
And we’d dine at Katz’s
Over corned beef I’m a real flirst
Stroll down the bowery
Where it smells like pee
And the hobo’s look up all the girls skirts
But the dolls and the stones
and the dead, dead ramone’s
are now just a bunch of t-shirts
Well the kids are getting older
Faster and faster
Leaving this world behind
And all the drugs and sex
You might think its a hex
But in new york it ain’t no crime
Well I’m from upstate
So I was a bit late
Got to the city just in time
To great the city kids in their hospital beds
They’re all in rehab on the upper west side.
